Vegetarian Sausage, Egg and Cheese Sandwich

nutrition recipes Feb 16, 2019

This vegetarian breakfast sandwich is a healthier alternative to Starbuck’s famous sausage, egg & cheese sandwich. And it has 23g of protein!

Macros:

The graphic below shows the difference between the Frumpy Sausage, Egg & Cheese as compared to Starbucks. As you can see, the Frumpy Sausage, Egg & Cheese has more protein even though I use a vegetarian patty!

Ingredients

  • English Muffin
  • 1 whole Egg
  • Morning Star Breakfast Sausage Patty
  • Velveeta Original Slices

Directions

Step 1: Heat 1 small pan to medium heat and put English muffin in the toaster. My toaster has wider slots so I put it at a higher level because the English muffin is thin and doesn’t touch the sides of the toaster.

Step 2: Place Morning Star Sausage Patty in pan flipping occasionally.

Step 3: Once your English muffin comes out of the toaster add your cheese slice between both pieces and let the English muffin melt the cheese.

Step 4: Add your egg to the same pan that the sausage patty is heating in. I like my eggs over-easy or over medium and I find that over-medium makes the eating experience less messy.

Step 5: Once you think the patty is heated all the way through (about 10 min) place it in between your English muffin slices. Let the egg cook to your desired temperature and add on top of the sausage patty.

Step 6: Enjoy!

Ways to change the macros for this recipe:

Less carbs: Do an open face sandwich or wrap with lettuce for “protein style” sandwich

Less fat: Use just egg whites instead of a whole egg.

More protein: Add more egg whites or double up on your sausage patty.
